Baby Bump at 26 weeks

A lot of you have asked to see the bump. Here is a pic from Christmas morning, we were playing with the new camera and finally took a bump pic. It's not really a bump. I'm just kind of wide all over the middle area. You know when people say they are "apple shaped" well I'm literally apple shaped right now. A slightly lopsided apple. But he's in there. I think he's all stretched out or something. Owen is not so much into curling up into a nice little basketball bump that everyone always hopes for.

Owen Scott

Our little baby boy has a name! It is so nice to be able to refer to little Baby Scott as Owen! Christmas was delayed due to snowy weather so it was nice to finally see all of our families. We made it home from OKC late last night and Tulsa was just as we left it, covered in ice and snow! Here are some pics from this morning. This is after 3 days!

On Christmas Eve my family was going to come to Tulsa but the weather kept everyone in OKC off the turnpike. Instead my sister Amy came from Bartlesville with my 3 nieces and Brent, Liz and Greg came over. It was a nice way to spend the snowy evening!

10 things I love about being Prego

So I'm sitting in the Hobby airport... delayed until 8:55 :( I'm really tired and my feet are swelling by the minute, but I decided that it's time to look at the bright side... This is a post about the good things about Prego life.
10 things I love about being Pregnant:
1. There is no temptation for clothes shopping... nothing fits so why bother.
2. I'm saving loads of cash that would otherwise be spent on alcohol and late nights
3. Pregnancy pants- other than the way they look, these things are fabulous. No worrying about love handles or panties hanging out the top... I mean the elastic comes up to your boobs for goodness sake! This holds everything in quite nicely so you can lean over with confidence!
4. Free rental car upgrades. On more than one occasion I have been upgraded at Enterprise because they wanted me and the baby to be safe. Aww.
5. Thick shiny hair
6. Long fingernails
7. No lifting heavy objects
8. No cleaning with chemicals
9. It's the only time in my life that people act disappointed if I'm not gaining weight
10. You get lots of solo time with baby. There is something really special about the moments the baby is kicking and I'm the only person that knows it.

My First Thanksgiving

Okay, so not my first Thanksgiving, but this year is the first year to have Thanksgiving at my house. I must say, I do feel quite grown up. Even though I ordered the Smoked Turkey from Whole Foods to be picked up tomorrow morning, that still leaves plenty of learning experiences for me! For the sides I am planning, mashed potatoes, the BEST focaccia stuffing recipe from WilliamsSonoma and I am trying a new recipe for Chestnut and Bacon Brussels Sprouts. I think this pregnancy nesting has kicked this into full gear. I'm even doing pear place card settings, idea courtesy of martha stewart (photo above). I have also included the recipes for the sides if anyone is interested. Have you seen that commercial for Target's holiday decor where the girl is practicing serving her husband and does a mock opening of the door while stirring an imaginary bowl? Well every time Ben sees it he says that's me. What can I say, I'm feeling quite domestic these days!!

Blasted shipping

SO I ordered the first item for the nursery, a rug that was on sale at ballard designs. I started with this rug because it's truly the centerpiece of the decor for the nursery (and it should be since it cost more than the crib or any other piece of furniture going in there!) I just pulled in from the airport to discover it had been delivered, wrapped in thin plastic that had torn open and one whole end is heavily soiled. My heart immediately sank as I dialed Ben to vent while walking up the steps. I called Ballard only to find out that was the last one!! Now, I can either change the motif or try to have it cleaned at their expense. I'm going with the latter now to see if I can salvage this design scheme. Woe is me.

Am I the only one?

Am I the only one that has felt the void of Domino? When they cancelled the magazine they replaced it with Lucky... I like clothing and all, but it's not nearly as good as Domino. I then subscribed to Elle Decor which is nice, but who can afford to decorate with anything in it! Well, I recently stumbled on this... Lonny! They have the same format as Domino and so far, the same great decorating ideas. If you are in the hunt for home decor shopping magazines this may be for you!

So, I've started all over on nursery ideas. Turns out, my previous ideas for a little boy's nursery were actually very girly, they just had a bit of blue thrown in so I called it "boy". I'm not planning to do anything over the top... I'm just not ready for the themes of hunting, fishing, racecars, trains, planes, sports, etc. I figure I have the next 10-15 years to have really boyish decor, I might as well go as "baby" as possible. I'll let you guys know what I come up with. Meanwhile, I have found some paint colors I like... that's a start!

It's a BOY!

I know... I couldn't see what they saw at first either... but it helps if you know it's like you're looking at him upside down, as if he's sitting on a glass and you're looking up at him...

Today I'm working in Houston, and one of my appts got cancelled so I decided it was a good time for a blog update! As most of you probably know, Ben and I are expecting a little one in late March/ early April. Our estimated due date is April 2nd! We are very excited and busy planning for the future! Our next ultrasound with the doctor is Nov. 13th, but since that seems like forever we are going to baby bump tomorrow for a 4D ultrasound. I'm praying Baby Scott is cooperative and that we get a good hint of whether to start buying pink or blue! The next few weeks will be quite busy with business travel so if we don't see much tomorrow, I will probably have to just be patient and wait until Nov 13th!

Not the best blogger...

Okay, so I am really not a good blogger. It's hard to keep up. It's been a whirlwind month, but we finally moved into the new house, got a renter for 5508 and so we feel like it's the beginning of the calm after the storm... Saying it in that one quick sentence really does it no justice because there were a lot of fun stories that go along with it. For instance, Megan and Andy told us about this amazing painter that has been a HUGE blessing for us to get so much done in a small amount of time... but little did we know painting was just the beginning... he does electrical work, door knobs, and even cut our cabinets to make the fridge fit! (we measured before we moved in, but the tile we put in is taller than what was there.. so um yeah, it didn't fit!) AND the renter... we put it on craigslist in March, within 4 days we had a lease agreement and $1500. in cash deposit from a lady interested in moving in. She had a guarantor and provided background application on the guarantor but refused to give us any info on her. She's a really nice lady, but for all we know she could have burned down her ex-husbands house or something... we at least needed her social to do a background check. So we asked for it and got every excuse under the sun... including, "I'm just too tired to write it down" ?? what?? So, after a few texts back and forth (she began dodging my calls around April 4th she stopped responding all together. So I left a message explaining that we had to put it back on craigslist if we didn't hear from her by the end of day... we never heard from her. We found new renters and I think it will all work out but it's just hilarious the excuses people will come up with to try to avoid giving information...

We're moving!

So, I'm not off to the best start at posting... but we've been quite busy... Ben and I have a contract on another home in Tulsa. It's only a few miles away from where we currently live... and we are very excited! We are set to close on April 10th, and we already have a renter for our current home... So, looks like we'll be moving out by May 1st! There is a lot to do to the new place to make it "home" so we've been lining up painters, picking out new tile and some fun new wallpaper. yes, I said wallpaper. Wallpaper is back. I love the new designer lines available. I'm not sure that we'll do any entire rooms of wallpaper, mostly just a powder room ceiling, my closets, and maybe one wall in the kitchen. It has been a lot of fun. As soon as we close I'll start posting the "before and afters" that way all of our friends and family in OKC can see the transformation :D
I've been traveling a lot for work so it's been hard to make any progress on packing :( I wish we could fast forward a couple of weeks... Is it just me or do I move every year?

Today's a good day for a first blog.

Good morning all! I've been facinated with all of the people setting up blogs. Since there never seems to be anything exciting enough going on in my ife to motivate me to set one up myself, I decided today is a good day... I mean why not? It's as good as any other day. Perhaps better. It's beautiful outside. A lot of customers are on spring break so I'm able to drink coffee in my pjs while creating quotes. THESE are the days that I love my job. I've missed these days.

So here's whats going on with Addie and Ben...

We live in Tulsa...I work for IBM, Ben works for Cox... we're both in sales. We got married in October of 07. We have 3 dogs... Gucci, Prada and Fiona. They are precious yorkies. Each of which now has their own photo in a pink sweater. It's like a requirement when you own a yorkie. They all have short hair, because the long haired yorkies are ug. No offense if you have one, we just prefer the "puppy cut with a teddy bear face" ... which reminds me of a story. So Fiona is a puppy. Ben's puppy. He for some reason has neglected to get her rabies shot. SO when it came time for her to get her first haircut he decided to lie to the nice people at PetsMart grooming department and say that Fiona was Prada. So the lady is checking in "Prada" and another PetsMart employee comes over and says, what a cute puppy. How old is she, and the PetsMart employee doing the check in says, 5... the second employee says, 5 months? No, 5 years (beause Prada is 5 yrs old!) ... the second employee says, "OH wow, she still has a puppy face"

The next day I got a call from PetsMart asking Gucci's daddy to bring Gucci in for a haircut. Wierd.

sorry, not sure how I got so far off on the subject of the girls... oh well, I had to start somewhere...
