Blasted shipping
SO I ordered the first item for the nursery, a rug that was on sale at ballard designs. I started with this rug because it's truly the centerpiece of the decor for the nursery (and it should be since it cost more than the crib or any other piece of furniture going in there!) I just pulled in from the airport to discover it had been delivered, wrapped in thin plastic that had torn open and one whole end is heavily soiled. My heart immediately sank as I dialed Ben to vent while walking up the steps. I called Ballard only to find out that was the last one!! Now, I can either change the motif or try to have it cleaned at their expense. I'm going with the latter now to see if I can salvage this design scheme. Woe is me.

Am I the only one?

Am I the only one that has felt the void of Domino? When they cancelled the magazine they replaced it with Lucky... I like clothing and all, but it's not nearly as good as Domino. I then subscribed to Elle Decor which is nice, but who can afford to decorate with anything in it! Well, I recently stumbled on this... Lonny! They have the same format as Domino and so far, the same great decorating ideas. If you are in the hunt for home decor shopping magazines this may be for you!

So, I've started all over on nursery ideas. Turns out, my previous ideas for a little boy's nursery were actually very girly, they just had a bit of blue thrown in so I called it "boy". I'm not planning to do anything over the top... I'm just not ready for the themes of hunting, fishing, racecars, trains, planes, sports, etc. I figure I have the next 10-15 years to have really boyish decor, I might as well go as "baby" as possible. I'll let you guys know what I come up with. Meanwhile, I have found some paint colors I like... that's a start!

It's a BOY!

I know... I couldn't see what they saw at first either... but it helps if you know it's like you're looking at him upside down, as if he's sitting on a glass and you're looking up at him...

Today I'm working in Houston, and one of my appts got cancelled so I decided it was a good time for a blog update! As most of you probably know, Ben and I are expecting a little one in late March/ early April. Our estimated due date is April 2nd! We are very excited and busy planning for the future! Our next ultrasound with the doctor is Nov. 13th, but since that seems like forever we are going to baby bump tomorrow for a 4D ultrasound. I'm praying Baby Scott is cooperative and that we get a good hint of whether to start buying pink or blue! The next few weeks will be quite busy with business travel so if we don't see much tomorrow, I will probably have to just be patient and wait until Nov 13th!

Not the best blogger...
Okay, so I am really not a good blogger. It's hard to keep up. It's been a whirlwind month, but we finally moved into the new house, got a renter for 5508 and so we feel like it's the beginning of the calm after the storm... Saying it in that one quick sentence really does it no justice because there were a lot of fun stories that go along with it. For instance, Megan and Andy told us about this amazing painter that has been a HUGE blessing for us to get so much done in a small amount of time... but little did we know painting was just the beginning... he does electrical work, door knobs, and even cut our cabinets to make the fridge fit! (we measured before we moved in, but the tile we put in is taller than what was there.. so um yeah, it didn't fit!) AND the renter... we put it on craigslist in March, within 4 days we had a lease agreement and $1500. in cash deposit from a lady interested in moving in. She had a guarantor and provided background application on the guarantor but refused to give us any info on her. She's a really nice lady, but for all we know she could have burned down her ex-husbands house or something... we at least needed her social to do a background check. So we asked for it and got every excuse under the sun... including, "I'm just too tired to write it down" ?? what?? So, after a few texts back and forth (she began dodging my calls around April 4th she stopped responding all together. So I left a message explaining that we had to put it back on craigslist if we didn't hear from her by the end of day... we never heard from her. We found new renters and I think it will all work out but it's just hilarious the excuses people will come up with to try to avoid giving information...
